Construction of the polar exploration vessel, Le Commandant Charcot, has officially started with the traditional steel cutting ceremony taking place on 6 November 2018. Thanks to the Double Action Principle (Aker Arctic DASTM), Le Commandant Charcot will be able to navigate forwards through compact ice and in reverse through extreme ice conditions.
